TROUBLESHOOTING
Why is my paint still sticky after drying?
Dry-to-touch and ready-for-use are different milestones; a film may feel dry while remaining vulnerable.
Start with the label: Identify the exact product and do not assume another formula’s remedy applies.
What to check
- Compare elapsed time with full-cure rather than touch-dry time.
- Check humidity, temperature, ventilation and coat thickness.
- Make sure the surface was clean and compatible with the coating.
- Avoid placing objects against the finish until the applicable use milestone is reached.
Before attempting a repair
Record the application time, approximate temperature, humidity, layer thickness and surface. Compare those facts with the current manufacturer instructions. If the material affects structural strength, electrical safety, pressure containment, food contact or immersion, contact the manufacturer before placing it into service.
