Why did my spray paint wrinkle?
Wrinkling often appears when coats interact before the underlying film is ready.
Start with the label: Identify the exact product and do not assume another formula’s remedy applies.
What to check
- Check the product’s minimum and maximum recoat window.
- Confirm that the topcoat is compatible with the base coat.
- Consider whether a heavy coat trapped solvent underneath.
- Let the affected area harden before following the manufacturer’s repair directions.
Before attempting a repair
Record the application time, approximate temperature, humidity, layer thickness and surface. Compare those facts with the current manufacturer instructions. If the material affects structural strength, electrical safety, pressure containment, food contact or immersion, contact the manufacturer before placing it into service.
