TROUBLESHOOTING

What if grout gets wet too soon?

Premature water exposure may affect appearance or performance before the grout reaches its stated water-ready stage.

Start with the label: Identify the exact product and do not assume another formula’s remedy applies.

What to check

  1. Stop repeated water exposure and allow the installation to dry.
  2. Confirm whether the product is cementitious, premixed or epoxy grout.
  3. Check both grout and sealer instructions because they may have different clocks.
  4. Contact the manufacturer when discoloration, softness or washout remains.

Before attempting a repair

Record the application time, approximate temperature, humidity, layer thickness and surface. Compare those facts with the current manufacturer instructions. If the material affects structural strength, electrical safety, pressure containment, food contact or immersion, contact the manufacturer before placing it into service.
