PROJECT TIMELINE

Painting a room: drying and recoat timeline

Plan the job around separate working, recoat, exposure and service milestones. The exact clock comes from the product you actually use.

Project sequence

  1. Prepare and prime the surface when required.
  2. Apply the first coat within the stated temperature and humidity range.
  3. Wait for the minimum recoat milestone.
  4. Allow additional time before normal cleaning or abrasion.
  5. Use full cure—not touch dry—for the finish’s final development.
Do not add the times blindly: Some milestones run from initial application while others begin after a later coat or step.
